The Socialist Group in the European Parliament is organising a European
conference on the topic "Right-wing extremism in Europe - Trends and
Counter-Strategies", to be held on May 15, 2008, in Dresden / Germany.
200 people from Germany and Europe, coming from politics, science and
civil society, are expected to participate. The conference is organised
bilingually German/English, professional simultaneous interpretation
will be provided.

Right-wing extremism in Europe - Trends and Counter-Strategies
An exchange of politics, science and practice
Conference hosted by the Socialist Group in the European Parliament
Thursday, 15 May 2008, Dresden
Right-wing extremist groups and parties have established strong networks
all across Europe. With the help of new symbols, and the presentation of
a moderate facade to the outside world, they are attempting to gain
ground within the political centre and to influence larger parts of
society. In spite of all appearances however, the dangerous and inhuman
nature of their ideas has not changed. In the face of this expansion
process, the Socialist Group in the European Parliament would like to
use this conference to promote an exchange between scientists,
politicians and members of civil society who advocate a tolerant and
cosmopolitan Europe.
During the conference, participants from all over Europe will present
and openly discuss trends of right-wing extremism and democratic
counter-strategies. In addition, the conference will serve as a platform
for the presentation of numerous initiatives. The Socialist Group in the
European Parliament warmly welcomes you to this conference in Dresden!
