Announcement of Vacancy: Information Officer

The European Roma Rights Center (ERRC) herewith invites applications 
for the position of Information Officer. The Information Officer will 
join the ERRC team in the framework of the ERRC Programmes Department,
and will be responsible inter alia for:

* Compiling the ERRC quarterly Roma Rights;
* Preparing press releases;
* Arranging press conferences;
* Designing outreach and media action, with relevant ERRC staff and
consultants;
* Distributing relevant information internally within the ERRC;
* Serving as liaison between the Romani communities and the ERRC;
* Communicating on a regular basis with Romani stakeholders including
Romani grassroots NGOs, political and other organisations, as well as
Romani individuals to identify needs and emerging issues in the field of
Roma rights;
* Ensuring that the work of ERRC is widely known and understood by Roma,
including by designing outreach, communication and mandate strategies;
* Other, as relevant.

By opening the position of Information Officer, the ERRC aims to
maximize its public communication energies, provide continuity to its
reputation as a high-quality delivery mechanism of human rights
information on Roma, and institutionally embed thick communication with
Romani activists and Romani communities.

The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, preferably will be Romani
or will have direct and long-term experience with Romani communities
and/or Roma rights issues, and will be familiar with the domestic and
international institutional framework in which the ERRC works.

Sought Qualifications:
* A university degree, preferably in media studies, law, human rights,
political science or a related humanities or social science field.
* Excellent written and spoken English;
* Extensive knowledge of and familiarity with issues facing Roma and
Romani communities;
* Knowledge of the domestic and international institutional framework in
which the ERRC works;

Other Desired Qualifications:
* Knowledge of the Romani language;
* Familiarity with international human rights law and intergovernmental
bodies relevant to human rights issues in Europe;
* Previous experience in human rights;
* Previous experience with media.
