April 20, Adolf Hitler's birthday and an occasion for increased racist
and antisemitic violence in Russia, did not pass unmarked. In addition
to a skinhead attack on a dormitory for Chinese and Korean students in
Vladivostok and the bombing of another dorm for Vietnamese in Moscow
which this newsletter detailed last week, two more incidents have been
reported. A third took place in Odessa, Ukraine which suggests that
violence marking Hitler's birthday is spreading and that Ukraine's
skinheads, not as numerous as their Russian comrades, are becoming more
dangerous.
