Developing Roma NGOs in Russia 2002-2003

Project Summary
http://www.romaniyag.uz.ua/en/?what=projects

The aim of this 14 month project is to develop the capacity of Roma NGOs
in the Russia Federation through a series of training workshops,
practical follow-up work and on-the-job internships. Participants will
be representatives from Roma organisations in Moscow, Ekaterinburg,
Samara and Volgograd.

The themes chosen for the training are fundraising, NGO management,
media and public relations. The first training is to be carried out by
Charities Aid Foundation NGO School in Moscow and will be held at the
Russian Academy of State Services under the President. Subsequent
trainings will take place in Samara and Ekaterinburg. Trainers are
experienced NGO leaders from Ukraine, Bulgaria, Romania and the UK. The
trainees will have the opportunity to work as interns in established
Russian human rights organisations or in governmental departments
dealing with minority issues.

A project website will be established where more information about the
activities and the organisations can be found. This project, funded by
the Department for International Development (DFID) through Charities
Aid Foundation - Russia (CAF Russia) is one of the first projects which
addresses the development of Romani civil society in the Russian
Federation.
