Summer Course in Democracy and Minority Issues

The Center for International Studies on Democracy and Ethnic Relations
(CISDER) invites 20 persons to attend a summer course on democracy and
minority issues from the 12.th until the 22.th of August, 2002. The
course will focus on the nature of ethnic identities and discuss
political strategies and models for peaceful relations between
minorities and majorities.

The course wil take place in the town of Toender in the south of
Denmark close to the German Border. The course will be conducted by
leading Danish experts on minority issues from Copenhagen University
and various Danish research institutions, and consists of 6 hours of
daily course work and some home work. The course is free of charge and
CISDER will cover all expenses related to accommodation, meals and
travel.

Who can apply: The course is targeted towards MA students,
journalists, NGO-representatives, politicians and administrators that
work in the educational, social or cultural field and have special
interests in minority issues and democracy. The course is available to
residents from Poland, Kaliningrad, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia. The
course will be held in English.

below. The letter must provide the following information:

1)      Name, address, telephone number/e-mail
2)      Age
3)      Educational background, incl. name of educational institution
4)      For students: Duration of studies and expected year of
graduation /
For non students: Name of institution of employment and description of
the field of work
5)      Short description of motivation for participating in said
course.

Deadline: Applications has to be submitted by July, 1st, 2002.
