HUMAN RIGHTS GROUP CHARGES EGREGIOUS VIOLATIONS IN RUSSIA
New Laws Against Terrorism and Extremism Are Applied Abusively

Following a fact-finding mission to Russia in days preceding the
presidential election, the Paris-based International Federation for
Human Rights (FIDH) issued a report that expresses "grave concerns" with
"the egregious human rights violations perpetrated in the name of the
fight against terrorism and extremism." FIDH described its fact-finding
mission as "part of a large mobilization for the respect of human rights
in the framework of the fight against terrorism all over the world."
