Global Launch: Minority Rights Group International's World Directory of
Minorities and Indigenous Peoples
Minority Rights Group International is pleased to announce the launch of
the first online directory of the world's minorities and indigenous
peoples, on February 27th 2008. The World Directory of Minorities and
Indigenous Peoples covers 220 of the world's countries and dependent
territories, and features profiles of about 700 minorities/indigenous
peoples. It is a unique resource for policy-makers, governments,
journalists, academics and all those with an interest in the growing
field of minority rights.

The World Directory is being launched in conjunction with our annual
Peoples Under Threat ranking, which seeks to identify peoples or groups
that are most under threat of genocide, mass killing or systemic
violence repression in 2008. This year's survey reveals that over half
of the top twenty countries in the world where people are most under
threat of genocide or mass killing are in Africa.
