A wave of violence is reported from across Russia a few weeks before and
after April 20, Adolf Hitler's birthday, usually an occasion for racist
attacks. "This year 25 people have died and 154 have been injured as a
result of crimes related to racial hatred," said Galina Kozhevnikova,
deputy director of the Sova Information-Analytical Center, on May 2. She
said that compared to the same period last year, the number of crimes
driven by racism has gone up by 33%.
