For Diversity - Against Discrimination

20 June 2007

Call for positive action study

The European Commission has published a Call for a study on positive
action measures in the European Union (VC/2007/270). The aim is to build
on the work of the network of legal experts and develop a better
understanding of the role that positive action can play in practice.

The Call follows a recent European Commission conference on the topic of
positive action in practice, which was held in Rome, Italy on 23-24
April 2007. Proceedings of this conference are now on the Commissions
anti-discrimination website.

The deadline for submitting a bid to this call is 8 August 2007.

Funding opportunity for networks

A new Call (VP/2007/013) has been issued under PROGRESS, which aims to
support key EU networks that share the objectives of the programme.
PROGRESS recognises that non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and
European networks have a vital role to play in influencing policy and
defending peoples rights.

The Call aims to provide stable and regular support for networks over
the three year period from January 2008 to December 2010. Eligible
networks are those active in combating social exclusion and
discrimination, promoting gender equality and the integration of
disabled people and representing Roma people. The Call does not aim to
support individual projects.

The deadline for submitting a bid to this Call is 30 July 2007.

information campaigns EU-wide photo competition. Students of
photography and other arts subjects are invited to make a creative
statement on diversity. They have a chance to see their photo published
on posters and flyers all across the EU.
