Overview of OSCE/ODIHR Conferences and Meetings in 2007

In 2007 the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights of the
OSCE will organize a series of human dimension meetings and conferences
jointly with the current Spanish Chairmanship of the OSCE. The value of
civil society has rightly been recognized on a large number of occasions
by the OSCE, and systematic work with civil society is key to the
ODIHR�s activities. Please find below an overview of the upcoming events
for the year.

Supplementary Human Dimension Meetings and Seminars 2007
- "Effective Participation and Representation in Democratic Societies",
16-18 May, Warsaw
- "Promotion and Protection of Human Rights", 12-13 July, Vienna
- "Combating Sexual exploitation of Children", 18-19 October, Vienna


Human Dimension Implementation Meeting (HDIM)
This annual meeting will take place in Warsaw from 24 September to 5
October and the review of the implementation of OSCE human dimension
commitments will again be the focus of debate.


In addition, the HDIM shall feature three one-day discussions of
specially selected topics:
- "Gender Aspects of Security"
- "Roma and Sinti � Action Plan � Participation in Political life:
Overcoming Discrimination"
- "Combating Intolerance and Discrimination and Promoting Mutual Respect
and Understanding � Implementation of Commitments"

OSCE High-level Conference on Combating Discrimination, Promoting Mutual
Respect and Understanding, follow-up to the Cordoba Conference on
Anti-Semitism and other forms of Intolerance
Bucharest 6-8 June 2007

This year a special conference devoted to tolerance and
non-discrimination issues will take place in Bucharest on 7-8 June. It
will be preceded by a civil society preparatory meeting, which will take
place on 6 June, providing civil society representatives with the
opportunity to exchange views and prepare recommendations for the
participating States of the OSCE.
