For Diversity - Against Discrimination

Combating discrimination: an introduction

A new brochure launched under the For Diversity. Against
Discrimination information campaign aims to provide a useful and
accessible introduction to EU laws and activities to tackle
discrimination.

Seeking to answer peoples most frequently asked questions, the brochure
has been thoroughly updated and includes a foreword from the European
Commissioner responsible for equal opportunities.

Aimed at the public as a whole, the brochure is available in all 20
official EU languages to download from

or to order in paper copy from: [email protected]

European Commission announces new calls for tender

The European Commission has launched a call for tender
http://ec.europa.eu/employment_social/fundamental_rights/callspt/calls_en.htm
for a study on the social and labour market integration of ethnic
minorities.

The study should focus on how to overcome barriers that ethnic
minorities may face in gaining access to employment and analyse how
membership of a particular ethnic minority might lead to certain
barriers. It should also consider the relationship between actions to
promote integration of ethnic minorities and wider policies tackling
social inequality.

The deadline for requesting or accessing relevant documents is 3 July
2006, and the final date for submitting a bid is 17 July 2006.

Cyprus conference means business

Do you work for, or closely with, small or medium-sized businesses? Are
you interested in diversity issues? If so, you might be interested in
attending a conference on The benefits of diversity and inclusion for
small businesses, to be held in September this year.

The event organised under the For Diversity. Against Discrimination
information campaign will take place in Limassol, Cyprus from 29-30
September 2006. For further information, contact:

National focus for new anti-racism leaflet

The European Network Against Racism (ENAR) has published information
leaflets on racism in 24 EU countries.

The leaflets aim to highlight European anti-racism initiatives in a
national context, and also provide information on NGOs and national laws
that can help challenge racial discrimination.

Each national leaflet is available in the language(s) of the relevant
country and in English.

To download an electronic version or find out about ordering hard
copies, visit the ENAR website:

Programmes Annual Conference, looks at the training needs of civil
society and highlights some examples of anti-discrimination training
projects:
