ENAR Shadow Report on Racism in Europe 2004

19.9.2005

The European Network Against Racism (ENAR), a network of European NGOs
working to combat racism in all the EU member states, presents its
shadow report on Racism in Europe 2004.

The ENAR shadow report is a compilation of information and data
collected and provided by a network of NGOs working with antiracism,
protection of human rights and provision of legal help and moral support
to victims of discrimination, unequal treatment and marginalisation in
the European Union. The report summarizes several EU country reports on
discrimination and it covers a period of 12 months.

Unlike official reports often painting a rosier picture of the situation
based on governmental sources, ENARs shadow reports provide us with
another view of racism in Europe.

However the reliability of the latest ENAR shadow report decreases the
fact that among the NGOs with the best practices against racism in the
Czech Republic is mentioned also People in Need Foundation (PINF) while
some other organizations and their results in the field of fight against
racism are missing. Problematic is also statement that PINF implements
the largest assistance program to Roma minorities in the Czech Republic.
