According to the news agency Regnum <http://www.regnum.ru>, the
Federation of Jewish Communities of CIS with the support of charity
foundation "Or Avner" has opened 6 new educational establishments in
2005. 5 kindergartens have been opened in Tomsk, Dzerzhinsk, Krasnodar
(Russia), Pervomaysk (Ukraine) and Kuba (Azerbaijan). 51 children study
in a newly opened school in Mogilev (Byelorussia).
The Federation of Jewish Communities of CIS notes that the number of
children in Jewish education establishments in Russia, Ukraine,
Byelorussia, Baltic States, Caucasus and Central Asia is growing
steadily. In some education establishments the number of students has
doubled. Thanks to the support of the charity foundation "Or Avner"
there are 71 schools and 60 kindergartens in CIS countries at the
moment. The total number of children enrolled in schools, kindergartens,
yeshivas, and universities related to the member organisations of the
Federation of Jewish Communities of CIS has reached 14500. Besides,
several thousand children every summer attend dozens of Jewish summer
camps.
