International Alert is an independent peacebuilding organisation working
in over twenty countries and territories around the world. We work with
people affected by violent conflict as well as at government, EU and UN
levels to shape both their policy and practice in building sustainable
peace. Our regional work is based in the African Great Lakes, West
Africa, the Caucasus, Colombia, Sri Lanka, Nepal and the Philippines. We
also work on crosscutting issues that affect peacebuilding, such as
business, humanitarian aid and development, gender, security and
post-conflict reconstruction.

We now have a number of opportunities for ambitious individuals. Both
senior posts are based in the South Caucasus, while the Administrator
will be based in our London office.


Senior Programme Officer - Civil Society Strand Coordinator

You will lead IA�s Civil Society Strand work within the Consortium
Initiative, by supporting civil society partners in Armenia and
Azerbaijan including Nagorny Karabakh to engage in constructive
initiatives that support the peaceful resolution of the conflict. 
Additionally, you will strengthen synergies and cooperation with the
other Consortium Initiative strands and act as a liaison for the broader
consortium.  

An ideal candidate will be well versed in the issues relating to the
conflict over Nagorny Karabakh. Apart from meeting the relevant
educational requirements, you will also need to have had at least 3
years field experience working in an area impacted by conflict, coupled
with a track record in strengthening local partners. Strong
interpersonal and diplomatic skills are also essential.


Senior Programme Officer � Georgia/Abkhazia Project

Dealing with both strategic development and day-to-day management, you
will support the work of the team and partners in various aspects of the
Eurasia Programme.  This will involve you combining projects to increase
their impact, acting as the main point of liaison between the Programme
and partners in the field and representing our initiatives to the
appropriate policy-makers and donors.

An ideal candidate will be an experienced professional familiar with the
issues relating to the Georgian-Abkhaz conflict. Apart from meeting the
relevant educational requirements, a successful candidate will have at
least 5 years international experience, three of which in the field
working in an area impacted by conflict, coupled with a track record in
strengthening local partners. Strong interpersonal and diplomatic skills
are essential.

Salary: ?29,911 p.a. (more for exceptional candidates) + excellent
benefits


Programme Administrator - ?18,497 p.a. (more for an exceptional
candidate) + excellent benefits

You will be an organized and enthusiastic individual, willing to take
responsibility for ensuring the effective operation of administrative
systems and procedures (including financial administration).  You will
also provide administrative and communications support to the team. 

Educated to degree level, you will have a minimum of one year experience
of general and financial administration work.  Good communication and
interpersonal skills are also essential, coupled with your excellent
written and spoken Russian skills.
