Media  are  invited  to  cover  the  International  Launch of the Decade
of Roma Inclusion being  held in  Sofia  on  February  2.   
 
Participants include Prime Ministers  from  Central and Southeast
European countries, as well as World Bank Group President James
Wolfensohn  and  Open Society Institute Chairman George Soros.  
 
A press conference will take place immediately after the launch ceremony
in  the Press Center of the Council of Ministers (1 Dondukov Blvd., 1000
Sofia, Bulgaria).

The Decade of Roma Inclusion, an initiative adopted by eight European
governments, and supported by the international community, represents
the first cooperative international effort to change the lives of Roma
in Europe. Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, FYR
Macedonia, Romania, Serbia and Montenegro, and Slovakia are the founding
countries of the Decade, which will span 2005-2015.

January 23 is the registration deadline. Security procedures will be
stringent, so journalists should factor in extra time for gaining
access.

Requests for accreditation should be submitted electronically. All
applicationstogether with a digital photograph in .jpg or .gif format
should be sent to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs at email
[email protected]. 
 
The filled-out accreditation request form and the digital photo should
be sent as attachments to the application email. Applications without a
photo will not be processed.  If the applicants do not receive
confirmation by email they are advised to contact the Ministry of
Foreign Affairs at telephone +359 2 940 20 16 for more information. The
digital photograph files should be named as per the following pattern:
family name_name.jpg or family name_name.gif.

A multi-media press release will be disseminated on February 2nd.
