MBHR international contacts

Director of the Moscow Bureau for Human Rights Alexander Brod took part
in the special Paris session of the European Commission on fight against
racism and intolerance (ECRI) which was dedicated to use of the racist,
anti-Semitic and xenophobia ideas in political discourse. The Session
was opened by the General Secretary of the Council of Europe Mr. Terri
Davis. Members of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe,
representatives of governmental and non-governmental European
organizations working on problem of racism and xenophobia participated
in the Session. The MBHR director spoke about the situation in Russia,
suggested ideas of cooperation with European structures within the
limits of the EU project on resistance to racism and xenophobia in
Russia. This project is supported by the chairman of the Parliamentary
Assembly of the Council of Europe Mr. Rene van der Linden. In his
official statement he told that �one of priorities of my work is
strengthening of links with civil society on NGOs which contribute in
human rights monitoring at the local level and increase the level of
public knowledge of this problem. Many kinds of the Council of Europe
activity will support your project�. MBHR monitoring materials are
regularly sent to the Council of Europe and are used in reports on human
rights observance.  


MBHR publishing program 

The Moscow Bureau for Human Rights is continuing realization of the
publishing program within the limits of the project on resistance to
racism and xenophobia. By this September the MBHR is going to publish 7
books dedicated to this problem. It will be: collected articles of
political scientist Vladimir Ilyushenko, a book by Sergey Belikov
�Skin-heads in Russia�, a book edited by professor Emil Pain �Tolerance
against xenophobia (foreign experience)�, collected articles of Yuri
Tabak and Valentin Oskotsky about radical nationalistic publications,
articles of Doctor of Law Sergey Belyaev (Strassburg) about
international methods of a person`s protection of discrimination, a book
by Doctor of History Victor Shnirelman about anti-Semitic ideology and a
collection summarizing regional monitoring data (along Russia). 

All these books will be spread free of charge during public events of
the MBHR and partner organizations, and will be sent to the regions for
journalists, lawyers, remedial organizations and law-enforcement
institutions.
