Dear Friends and Colleagues,

Today the Voice of America russian radio service hosted a program on the
subject of the Meskhetian Turk resettlement program to the US and the
human rights situation surrounding the Meskhetian Turks in Krasnodar
Krai, on which I was a panelist.

On the show were also Vadim Karastelyov from the Novorossisk Committee
for Human Rights, and Tianshian Svonidze, a Meskhetian Turk refugee and
activist living in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.

If you have an interest in listening to the program, it is possible to
do this for the next day or so by going to the Voice of America website
at http://www.voanews.com/russian/webcast.cfm.
Once you arrive to this webpage, you will click on the line which reads
"21:00." The program is called "Govorite s Amerikoi", hosted by Inna
Dubinskaya.

The program provided a good opportunity to call attention to the
intensification of human rights abuses occuring in the Krasnodar region
over the last several months, even after the start of the US
resettlement program. There was also discussion about the emerging
community of Meskhetian Turks in the US, and the question of
repatriation to Georgia.

Hope everyone is doing well.

Sincerely,

Steve Swerdlow
