Press Release

New books and web site for Pollitecon Publications

English language publisher of books on the ethnic Macedonians of
northern Greece, Pollitecon Publications, has announced the launch of
three new books and a new url and web site at www.pollitecon.com.

Pollitecon has launched three new books on the new site, two of which -
Life in Aegean Macedonia and Macedonian Communities Around the World,
are free.

Life in Aegean Macedonia is about the people, politics, culture,
history, and diaspora of Aegean Macedonia, with the focus on quality
work that illustrates the life of the region's native Macedonian
population. The book currently has two articles with more to come.

Macedonian Communities is the first comprehensive listing of virtually
all of the more than 1,000 Macedonian settlements around the world
including the Balkans, Europe, North America, Australia, South America
and Africa. "I am particularly proud of this first ever listing of
Macedonian communities, the length of which alone will surprise many
people," said Victor Bivell, publisher with Pollitecon Publications.
Pollitecon looks forward to developing the list and adding further
content over time, he said.

Macedonian Communities and Life in Aegean Macedonia are both free,
online, ongoing books that will grow over time, and unsolicited
submissions of previously unpublished work are welcome.

Pollitecon Publications has also announced the upcoming launch of its
seventh book in traditional paper format. The Big Water is the first
English language translation of the Macedonian novel, Golemata Voda by
Zhivko Chingo. The translator, Elizabeth Kolupacev Stewart, previously
translated the novel Black Seed (Crno Seme) by Tashko Georgievski, which
was published by Pollitecon in 1996. The Big Water is expected to be
available in July this year.

Mr Bivell said the new web site is significantly better than
Pollitecon's previous site and has been designed by Toronto based
Macedonian web consultant, Lubi Uzunovski.

"Mr Uzunovski has designed some of the best Macedonian sites on the web
including MAKNEWS (www.maknews.com), Rainbow Party / Vinozhito
(www.florina.org) and the Macedonian Canadian Historical Society
(www.macedonianhistory.ca). Pollitecon is pleased to now be among a
growing group of leading edge Macedonian web sites," he said.
