THE CATASTROPHE IN CHECHNYA
Experts Call for U.S. and International Involvement 

The catastrophe in Chechnya has not diminished following the recent
Chechen referendum and elections, according to the consensus of a recent
conference of experts in Washington organized by the New Atlantic
Initiative of the American Enterprise Institute. The Chechen conflict is
not a battlefield in the war on terror, nor is it only about human
rights violations, the experts suggested, as the scope of destruction is
too enormous.
