The next European-wide Action Week Against Racism is scheduled for
14-21 March 2005. UNITED for Intercultural Action provides attractive
campaign material free of charge (see below).

21 March was declared International Day for the Elimination of Racial
Discrimination by the General Assembly of the United Nations as a
reaction to the murder of 70 peaceful anti-apartheid demonstrators in
Sharpeville, South Africa in 1960. During the Action Week Against
Racism, 14-21 March 2005 once again hundreds of activities will take
place all around Europe, organised by a wide variety of
organisations. Activities range from demonstrations and debates to
film and music festivals and from special TV programs to cleaning the
walls of racist slogans.

The Action Week 2005 begins on 14 March and ends on 21 March with the
possibility of using the weekend 19-20 March for larger actions. Due
to Easter holidays this year the Action Week cannot include two
weekends (which was the practice until now), because it would be an
obstacle for schools to take part.

**ACT**
This year's campaign for the European-wide Action Week Against Racism
aims to raise awareness among people towards racism in everyday-life
and to make them ACT against it. Anti-racism has to be put into the
mainstream of contemporary youth culture. We must speak out against
everyday racism and the negative political tendencies in Europe. We
need to combat racism through UNITED action. We need to ACT together.

**LET US CAMPAIGN TOGETHER!**
UNITED links various activities and highlights the issues of racism
on a European level. It publicises and supports initiatives of local
groups.
UNITED for Intercultural Action is the largest pan-European network
against nationalism, racism, fascism and in support of migrants and
refugees and connects over 560 organisations from 49 European
countries. For more campaign information:
http://www.unitedagainstracism.org (under 'new' or 'campaigns').

Below you can find an e-mail form to inform UNITED about your
activities on the Action Week and to order free campaign material
such as posters and postcards.
