PSD GIVES UP TO TERRITORY SPLITTING FOR NOW
BUCHAREST After six months when leading public debates, vehement most
of them, PSD, through the voice of leader of Senates parliamentary
group announced the matter of new administrative split in case of
Romania is not to be approached before the elections in year 2005. "The
41 counties will remain as such, Bucharest municipal as well, and under
no circumstance do we approach another administration split by the time
of elections ", underlined the leader of the Senates social-democrat
group, Ion Solcanu. Though PSD backed the idea of merging some counties
is not so agreed by EU, still this fact is contradicted at present by an
official release of European Commissions delegation in Bucharest. The
European Commission deems that only Romanias Government can make the
sovereign decision on choosing the most suitable institutional and
administrative frame regionally. The analysts yet consider that stopping
any action in terms of Romanias rationalization to be determined by the
requests made by the Magyar community relating to establishing
autonomous region in Szeckler community. (DIVERS)

GOVERNMENT PROMISES SUPPORT TO ROMANIAN MINORITY IN SERBIA
BUCHAREST The Bucharest Executive wants to brush up its strategy
regarding the ex-Yugoslavian territory and to give much support to
Romanian ethnics living in the region, as one can be drawn out of the
debate taken place on Wednesday, April 23, led by the governmental
officials and the representatives of Romanian communities. The Minister
of Public Information, Vasile Dincu, said the condition of Romanian
ethnics in Serbia is contrastive and this is why action must be taken
differently. There exists Voivodina area where Romanians benefit of
rights and culture life which is deployed in the open, yet there is a
part, Valea Timocului area, where there exist further series of problems
that must be solved in the short run. First of all, Romanian language is
much required in schools, in all grades- which does not exist; it is
also about the matter of media in Romanian language - there are areas
where it lacks altogether; faith cannot be exerted and the service
cannot be held in Romanian language in most part of Yugoslav area,
added Dincu. (DIVERS)
