GOVERNMENT DELIVERED DECISION FOR LEGALIZATION OF "TETOVO UNIVERSITY"
With amendments of Law for high education which on Friday passed in the
Government, current para-university in Mala Recica, so-called "Tetovo
University", enters in process of legalization. This University is
expected to start with function as state university in October this
year, or in school year 2004/2005. According to Minister of Education,
Aziz Polozani, legalization of "Tetovo University" is expected to solve
the problem with university education of the Albanians in Macedonia.
Polozani announced that amendments in Law for High Education will be
adopted by the Parliament by the end of next month. Although Polozani
announced that the University will function as legal and state
university as of this year, according to unofficial information of A1
TV, because of the necessary period needed for collecting funds for
function of the university, it is expected the university to start
functioning as state university as of next school year. After the
legalization the university is expected to consist of faculties for
humanitarian and natural sciences, faculties of law and economy.
Minister Polozani announced that until 2005 a way is expected to be
found for verification of diplomas of the 400 graduated students of this
university. Around 10.000 students, out of which 5.000 are students of
final year at the moment are studying on the "Tetovo university", which
has been founded in 1994.
