Special interview with Pat Cox - qualified support for European
languages

Brussels 13/5/02 by Eva Blssar

'We are, in the Parliament, about to undertake the biggest single
additional linguistic investment we've ever done and this is because
we are committed to make the enlargement a success at an early stage.'
These are the words of Pat Cox, President of the European Parliament.
In Eurolang's continuing series of interviews with members of the
European Parliament on the linguistic future of Europe, Pat Cox speaks
of the complexity of language policies related to enlargement. He also
talks about the current controversial status of the Language Equality
Act in his native Ireland, as the country prepares for general
elections on Friday.
