Conciliation Resources was established in 1994 to provide an
international service to local organisations pursuing peace building or
conflict transformation initiatives. The principal objective of CR is to
support activities of people and groups working at community and
national levels in preventing or transforming violent conflicts into
opportunities for social, political and economic development based on
more just relationships. CR is currently supporting partner activities
in Angola, the Caucasus, Fiji, Nepal, Uganda and West Africa, and
produces the print and on-line publication series, Accord: an
international review of peace initiatives, as part of the Accord
programme.

CR is seeking a Russian-speaking Project Officer with a commitment to
conflict resolution to contribute to the development of its Caucasus
Programme, focusing on the Georgian-Abkhaz conflict.

PROJECT OFFICER, CAUCASUS PROGRAMME (19,000-24,000 + pension)

Tasks: The position of Project Officer for the Caucasus is a new one,
created to meet the needs of CR's expanding project activities in regard
to the Georgian-Abkhaz conflict and peace process. The Project Officer
will join the Caucasus team, currently comprising two senior staff. The
Project Officer's work will combine project administration, including
budgeting and accounting tasks, participation in the planning and
implementation of project activities, and information management and
research.

CR's Caucasus Programme has focused on conflict transformation and civil
society capacity building work in regard to the Georgian-Abkhaz conflict
for the past five years. The priorities of the programme are to enhance
the capacity of local organisations to address underlying factors that
perpetuate conflict; to provide politicians, officials and civic
activists opportunities for reflection on democratic and non-violent
options for resolution of the conflict and socio-political change; and
to facilitate analysis, dialogue, awareness raising and broader
participation, both within the conflicting communities and across the
conflict divide
