Fwd: Internship opportunity

The Division of International Development at the Graduate School of
Public and International Affairs at the University of Pittsburgh is
creating a database of Russian and NIS NGOs interested in offering
internships for the summer of the year 2000. The internship is geared
towards first year Masters students pursuing degrees in International
Development and International Affairs, with strong interests in the
Former Soviet Union region.

By the start of the internship period, students will have completed
courses in some or all of the following areas.

a.. Theory of Development Policy
b.. The role of NGOs and Civil Society in developing and transitional
countries
c.. Project Management Techniques and Technologies

We are seeking development-oriented NGOs that can accommodate an
intern for a period of 6 weeks to 3 months. NGOs interested in hosting
an intern must also meet the following criteria:

- Perform development activities either at grassroots, regional,
national, or international level.
- Provide meaningful activities for the intern building upon his/her
knowledge and skills.
- Provide sufficient office space and equipment for the intern to
successfully perform his/her duties.
- Assign an internship supervisor who can effectively communicate
with the intern either in English or other languages depending on the
individuals.
- Assist the intern with transportation to and from airports and in
finding accommodation and meals during the internship.

The intern would cover all expenses incurred by the intern during
his/her stay. The only financial responsibilities of the host
organization are those directly related to the interns job, such as
office space, equipment, and office supplies etc. INTERESTED
