SAFERWORLD HAS THE FOLLOWING VACANCIES AT OUR LONDON OFFICE.

ORGANISATION
 
Saferworld is an independent foreign affairs research organisation,
working to identify, develop and publicise more effective approaches
for tackling and preventing armed conflicts.  Due to the expansion of
our Arms & Security Programme, we are seeking to fill the following
vacancies.
 
PROJECT OFFICER (South East Europe/Caucasus)
PROJECT OFFICER (Southern & East Africa)
PROJECT OFFICER (EU & International Arms Export Controls
 
To play a key role in the development and implementation of
Saferworld's research and advocacy projects.  Candidates should have a
Masters (or equivalent) degree, and at least 3 years experience of
arms control/international security issues. Excellent written and
spoken English essential, and at least one other language (appropriate
to the region) preferable. Proven knowledge of the relevant region is
also required.    Salary range:  �17,500 - �24,000.
 
TWO RESEARCH ASSISTANTS (Arms and Security Programme)
 
To assist in the development and implmentation of Saferworld's
research and advocacy projects.  Candidates should have a Masters (or
equivalent) degree, together with at least on year's experience of
arms trade and/or political and security issues in Europe and/or
Africa.  Salary range:  �14,000 - �17,000.
 
PARLIAMENTARY/MEDIA OFFICER
 
To be responsible for the day-to-day implementation of Saferworld's
advocacy work with government officials,  parliamentarians and the
media across the EU  Writing  newsletters and other organisational
literature will also be a key task.  Excellent oral and written
communication skills,  political acumen, and a good knowledge of arms
and conflict issues are essential.  Candidates should have at least an
Honours degree and two year's experience working in government or
parliament, in an advocacy role for an NGO, or in journalism.  Salary
range:  �17,500 - �24,000
