CAIN (Conflict Archive on the INternet) web site

The CAIN (Conflict Archive on the INternet) web site

http://cain.ulst.ac.uk

is proving to be a valued resource of information and source material
on the Northern Ireland conflict. In October the site passed the one
million accesses ('hits') mark. If you haven't visited the site for a
while you should check 'recent additions' by following the link from
the home page.

In addition to material on 'the Troubles' in Northern Ireland the site
provides background information on Northern Ireland society and
information on politics in the region. This site is of value to those
with a general interest in the topic of conflict and peace studies as
well as those with a particular interest in Northern Ireland. While
the main audience is an academic one, the site is freely available to
anyone with access to the Internet.

The CAIN Project was initially funded in 1996 and 1997 under the
Electronic Libraries (eLib) Programme by the Higher Education Funding
Councils of the UK. In 1998 the Project received funding from the
Department of Education for Northern Ireland (DENI) and the Central
Community Relations Unit (CCRU). CAIN is currently seeking funding
for 1999.
