EDUARD SHEVARDNADZE: MESKHETIAN TURKS CAN RETURN TO GEORGIA WITHIN
10-12 YEARS

Baku, 31 October. MPA: "Meskhetian Turks deported from Georgia in 40s
and wishing to return to their homeland, will be able to do this
within 10-12 years", President Eduard Shevardnadze said in his
interview to the Georgian National radio on 30 October. According to
his words, the problem must be resolved step-by-step, and without
causing damage to anyone. The head of the state pointed out that 
young Meskhetians are gradually returning to Georgia, enter 
universities, and express their wish to serve in the Georgian army.
