Dear Friends,
 
Please see attached information regarding the United Nations Voluntary
Fund for Victims of Torture.  The fund is currently well financed and
receiving applications. Very basic information is below. Full
information is in the attachments and in our web site:
 
http://www.unhchr.ch under Programme/ Voluntary Funds/ UN Voluntary
Fund for Victims of Torture.

1.  The aid must be for direct assistance to victims of torture (not
prevention or public education).  Aid can be, for example:  medical,
psychological, psychiatric, social (including training for new
employment), financial/humanitarian, and legal assistance in relation
to redress for the torture.  Grants are for one year. Applications are
due 31 December, reviewed in May and distribution of funds in
July/August.

Criteria:
 
1.  Grants only given to NGOs.
2.  The experience of the staff of the NGO in assisting victims of
torture is examined.
3.  The definition of the beneficiaries of the grant (victims) is
examined.
