Internet presentation Minorities in Europe

Minorities in Europe
http://www.minority2000.net

The Internet presentation "Minorities in Europe" is a part of the EXPO
2000 project "Cultures, Languages, Minorities: The Danish-German
Border Region - An Example of Conflict Resolution." In this
presentation a map of Europe gives you access to fundamental
information about the language minorities in Europe. Select a minority
about which you would like to know more, and explore a world of
cultural and lingual diversity that is known only to few. The
presentation is available in English, Danish, and German.

15 minority groups are presented more in detail in the light of
supplementary information. They were selected on the basis that they
build a cross-section of the minority groups in Europe and thus create
a representative image.

This presentation also contains detailed information about the four
minorities in the Danish-German border area and in Schleswig-Holstein,
i.e. Danes, Frisians, Germans and Sinti/Roma, to draw attention to the
very special historical development that has taken place in this
region. The harmonious co-existence should not be perceived as a model
of conflict solution which can be exported to areas of interethnic
conflict in Europe. Still, the four minorities hope that this model
can be an inspiration and encourage minorities and majorities in
conflict areas to live together in more harmony.
