SIMFEROPOL - An international seminar on problems of the prevention
and settlement of international conflicts began to work in Crimea on
Wednesday.

Its participants, who arrived from Armenia, Hungary, Canada,
Kazakhstan, the Baltic countries, Russia, Singapore, Ukraine, Croatia,
Yugoslavia and Japan, will study within 10 days legal methods of
relaxation of tension and conduct of peacekeeping operations. These
delegates dealt with international and inter-ethnic conflicts in
practice.

The seminar was organised by the Soros Fund with the assistance of the
East-East programme and a number of Crimean social organisations.

Oleg Smirnov, the head of the programme "Integration into the
Ukrainian community of the Crimean Tartar people, Armenians,
Bulgarians, Greeks and Germans, who were subjected to deportation",
noted that the programme for the integration of repatriates "in the
last three years proved to be effective and there is a hope that it
will be continued with an active international support."
