OSCE ODIHR Bulletin - latest and the last issue...

As of November 1997 the ODIHR (OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and
Human Rights) Bulletin will no longer be published. Also Central Asia and
Transcaucasia Newsletter will be neither. The CPRSI Newsletter (ODIHR
Contact Point for Roma and Sinti Issues) will be issued every forth, instead
of every second month. However, the ODIHR will give an account of its
activities on a monthly basis in the OSCE Newsletter and also in semi-annual
reports.

The new ODIHR director explains these changes the following way: "...the
office, if it were to be a fully professional instrument of the OSCE, should
set distinctive priorities within ODIHR's broad mandate: focus on
operational activities; and adapt the structure, staff and method of work
accordingly... Re-focusing means also rationalising and the concentration
of resources, both human and financial, on the priorities. The "motto" here
will have to be quality before quantity, Our publications will not escape
this thorough examination".
