Meskhetians' picket in Tbilisi

 
About 40 Meskhetians (mostly from the Tbilisi-based youth association
"Meskheti", as well as those who had specially come from Chechnya and
Kabarda, Russian Federation) picketed out of the State Chancellery
office, asking for a meeting with Mr. Vazha Lortkipanidze, State
Minister. A special police detachment took them into a bus and sent to
the hostel where those of them, who live in Tbilisi, dwell. Their
demands were: to start implementation of the programme of their
repatriation to Georgia approved by the President; to adopt a special
law rehabilitating the Meskhetians deported from Georgia in 1944.
