Job search

Antwerp, 1 August 1999

Conc. : job search for organisations concentrating on ethnic conflict
analysis and regulation, Eastern and Central Europe.

I completed my studies in June and would like to inform about possible
job opportunities in the field of ethnic conflict analysis and
regulation in Eastern and Central Europe.

Over the past few years I have increasingly directed my university
education towards national conflict regulation. After completing my
degree in Contemporary History, I specialised in nationalism and
conflict management at the London School of Economics and Political
Science. This specialisation allowed me to extend the subject of my
History dissertation - the Belgian national question at the end of the
nineteenth century, about which I also edited an article in the "New
Encyclopedia of the Flemish Movement" (1997).

In London, I expanded my interest for nationalism and ethnicity
towards the Balkans, Central and Eastern Europe. My dissertation
covered the intervention in the Kosovo crisis (1995-1999), an issue
which, for instance, I would be particularly happy to pursue in the
aftermath of the war. I also, however, have an essential interest in
the process of political transition in the region, in particular with
regard to the relation between democracy and ethnicity.

Since I will be leaving for Prague at the end of this month, I am very
interested in working in the region and I would be as happy to
concentrate on domestic developments as on international developments
in the area of ethnic minority rights.

Please feel free to contact me for any further information you may
require at my home adress or (preferably) on the following e-mail

Yours Faitfully,
