AZERBAIJAN", M.ZABELIN STATED
 
BAKU. 27 July. MPA: "Members of the Russian community who consider
themselves citizens of Azerbaijan, more than once addressed the
leadership of the Russian federation on the issue of restoration of
territorial integrity of the republic, resolution of the Karabakh
conflict on the basis of international legal norms", chairman of the
Russian community M.Zabelin stated at today's (27 July)
press-conference. According to his words, he is subject to
condemnation on the part of several Russian bureaucrats who take
anti-Azerbaijani position. President V.Pitun, the MM deputy believes,
strived to improve relations with Azerbaijan.

According to Zabelin's words, some citizens of Russian ethnicity leave
the republic as a result of purposeful propaganda of certain forces.  
 
In the meantime, Zabelin said, opposition forgets the lessons of the
past and today attempts to pressure on the parliament, to achieve
adoption of the laws appropriate for its interests and to wreck the
elections. 

The leader of the Russian community intends to participate in
elections either on the PEA proportional list as this party member,
or, following the party leadership's advice will run in some
majoritarian district. Speaking about the opposition's contacts with
the leadership of the Russian federation, the deputy told that the DPA
member Yusif Bagirzade requested him to establish contacts between the
former speaker Rasul Guliev and the Russian administration. However,
Zabelin said, he "will not engage in similar provocations".
