From: Laura Bertolini <[email protected]>

On October 13th and 14th 2000, the International University of
Peoples' Institutions for Peace (IUPIP) in collaboration with the
University of Trento is hosting an International Conference entitled
MOVING BEYOND PEACE, RIGHTS AND JUSTICE - TIME FOR NEW VIEWS? in
Trento, Northern Italy. The main aims are to consider, in the light of
dramatic changes and conflicts which have followed the end of the Cold
War, the present international situation and to reflect on new
prospects for contrasting future forms of disruptive conflicts, rights
violation and social-economic exclusion. The conference will involve
three sessions devoted respectively to the following themes:
rethinking peace, rethinking human rights and rethinking social
justice, each with two speakers, three discussants and general
discussion.

Friday 13th and Saturday 14th the conference will be opened to a
limited number of people: in addition to the thirty participants at
the IUPIP's 8th International course, which attracts leaders of civil
society from many different countries, about forty researchers and
scholars from universities, research centres on peace, human rights
and social justice from all over the world will be admitted.
