Re: Info about NGOs/research instutions needed

I would like to have a notice put up about a research association called
'Bez Hranic' which is in the process of formal establishment. It is a group
of primarily British academics and professionals in the field of the CIS and
East Europe. The principal research focus are the sociological and wider
practical
consequences of 'civil society' construction in the CEECs. We are examining
the impact on the CEECs of 'Westernisation', particularly with regard to
NGOs and democratization. It is coordinated from the Department of
Sociology, University of Kent at Canterbury, Canterbury, Kent CT2 7NS,
England. I, Adam Burgess, am the coordinator ([email protected]).

I would add that I have a book out in November which states the case for a
more critical look at the 'westernisation' of the CEECs - and I would
include the explosion of NGOs in the region as part of this westernisation.
It's called 'Divided Europe: The New Domination of the East' (London: Pluto
Press, 1997).

with thanks

Adam Burgess
