PROGRAM INFORMATION- Center for Conflict Management
        Almaty, Kazakhstan

The Center for Conflict Management is a non-profit, non-governmental
organization. Its main goal is to make a contribution towards preventing
social and ethnic conflicts in Kazakhstan, towards peace-making and creating
an atmosphere of stability and predictability as the transition to a free
market economy and democratic civil society continues.

The CCM was registered as a local public association in July, 1995. This is
the first organization of its kind in Kazakhstan and in Central Asia in
general.

The Center unites the scholars, professors of the universities, students,
specialists in different fields of studies and other people, interested in
conflict issues.

The philosophy of the Center is based on the idea that while the world
community spends much money for conflict resolving and peacekeeping, we
believe in PREVENTION OF CONFLICTS, saving millions of dollars and, more
importantly, saving human lives. Kazakhstan is an "ideal candidate" for such
programme of early warning of conflicts. Our country is in a very difficult

overcome the crisis and to prevent conflicts.
