Confronting Crimes Against Humanity - From Human Rights to
International Responsibilities
An International Conference organized by the Simon Wiesenthal Centre
and the International Helsinki Federation for Human Rights
Thursday, 17 June 1999, 9:30 –16:30
Diplomatic Academy of Vienna, 4, Favoritenstraúe 15a
This conference has been recognized in the framework of UNESCO´s
Programme for the Culture of Peace
The day will include panels on „Prosecuting War Criminals“ and „Kosovo
in the Mirror of Nuremberg“ with testimony from persons with direct
source information.
Among the speakers will be Prof. Cherif Bassiouni (De Paul
University), US Ambassador to the OSCE David Johnson, the Russian
Presidential Human Rights Commission Chairman Vladimir Kartashkin,
political and media figures and Simon Wiesenthal who will speak on
„Nazi Crimes as an Early Warning System“
