DOCUMENTARY ABOUT REFUGEES FROM KOSOVO
 
Independent film-maker Yerlan Askarbekov from Almaty (Kazakstan) are
going to produce documentary about refugees from Kosovo. Today Kosovar
tragedy remind for Kazaks associations with analogous events at XVIII
century. At the time Zhungars exciled and killed Kazaks as Serbs make
the same on Kosovars. We as independent crew are going reflect
humanitarian crisis at the end of millennium. We not pursue political
situations. Our purpose to open a theme distress and horrors of war
for the peace population. As far as it in our forces, we would like to
warn the compatriots of political adventures, which result in similar
accidents.
 
We want to make videorecording of refugee camps, frontier reception
points, interviews of the refugees. Probably, we will manage to get
videorecordings directly from Kosovo from the representatives of KLA
(Kosovo Liberation Army). We plan to move through territory of
Macedonia and Albania along the Yugoslavian border. Duration of
shooting period is 2 weeks. But as from Kazakstan up to the region it
is necessary to go some day and to cross some borders, the full
duration of travel approximately will be 3 weeks.
 
We need:
 
- real addresses of refugee camps at Macedonia and Albania, useful
contacts with representatives of humanitarian missions;
 
- local volunteer interpreter with good speaking & writing of Albanian
and Russian (better) or English that can move through Macedonia and
Albania;
 
- used Betacam SP Video Camera Recorder;
 
- financial support at a rate of 20,000 USD. We with gratitude shall
accept the help in any size.

Our crew have experience of cooperation with Soros-Foundation in
producing of documentary on human rights problem. This is URL on our

have draft agreements with Kazak, Central Asian & Turkish TV-Networks
about screenings.
 
The situation promptly varies, therefore we ask the respected sponsors
by consideration of the application to take into account that fact,
that at nearest 1-2 months refugee camps can be closed or owing to
evacuation or returning of the people in native houses. IT'S VERY
URGENT!
