To the People of Good Will From Ukraine and Abroad
Dear Sirs and Madams, Organizations and Institutions,
We apply to you hoping that you will understand us and will share our
unheard pain of the disaster, which has come to the Carpathian region
again.
The new calamity has come after Roma people (the most socialy
unprotected national minority) had finished to treat their wounds from
the flood of 1998. Troubles of 2001 has come to the places where Roma
settlements are situated, in particular: Chust, Rachovo, Beregovo,
Tyachevo, partially Uzhgorod, Irshava and Vynogradovo regions.
Hundreds of Roma dwellings were washed away and destroyed. People had
remained without any means of leaving.
The help provided by the state is distributed among Roma people
unequally and ineffectively. Local official institutions are taking
only a little care for Roma and abusing misfortunate and miserable
position of Romani families as it was happening during the times of
Soviet Union.
There are more then 90 Roma settlements in Transcarpathian region of
Ukraine where about 50 thousand Roma live. And many of them need your
help now!
We ask you to respond to Romani grieves and if it is possible to help
us with the financial support. Each pence and pound, cent and dollar
are very valuable in such economically hard times. Your donation will
represent the response of your heart on a human disaster, and it will
come back to you and your families as a Blessing and God`s Reward.
