New Report on UN Human Rights Mechanisms
Dear Boris,
I thought that MINELRES-L subscribers would like to know about a new
report that is now available at Human Rights Internet's website. The
report is titled "For the Record 1997: the UN Human Rights System." A
joint project of HRI and the Canadian Department of Foreign Affairs
and International Trade (DFAIT), the report is a review, country by
country, of what happened during 1997 in the UN human rights system.
More than 190 entities are examined. Materials covered include
government reports to treaty-bodies, and the experts' concluding
observations; what the Special Rapporteurs or Working Groups reported;
and resolutions and decisions of the Commission on Human Rights, the
Sub-Commission, ECOSOC, the General Assembly, and the Security
Council. There are hyperlinks to all UN documents mentioned in the
report.
The report can be accessed at http://www.hri.ca/fortherecord1997/
Best wishes,
Britt Elliott
