UNO-Report: Racism is Being Spread Via Internet

Geneva/ SWISS (RNN Correspondent) April the 8th 1998

Racial hatred and discrimination are increasingly spread through
Internet. This is the result of the report of the UNO special
correspondent for racism.

Racist groups use more and more the Internet to spread their
propaganda, says Maurice Glele-Ahanhanzo, a jurist from Benin (Western
Africa). This has to be stopped with united measurements of the
international community. Racist views are popular at a fearful rate. "
Even though some countries have become aware of these problems, there
are only few attempts to stop this trend", he says "Altogether the
situation has not changed much". Above all, the discrimination against
black people, the racial hatred against Arabians, the anti-Semitism,
and the discrimination against Roma and migrants are alarming". He
positively mentioned Switzerland and Sweden, where racist propaganda
by way of electronic media is explicitly made a punishable offence.
Germany hat already been positively mentioned in the previous report.

Again, the UNO human rights activist asked for an international
conference on racism, immigration, and human rights to combat the
problems more effectively.

Kosovo Albanians do not accept even the eights invitation for a round
of talks

Beograd / SERBIA (RNN Correspodent) March the 24th 1998

Not even to-day the round of talks between representatives of the
government and Kosova Albanians could take place (without comment
there follows now the voice of another female radio speaker).

Even after the eights invitation the representatives of the Albanian
government and unions did not appear to the round of talks that had
been planned for the past days in the Houses of the Serbian government
in Pristina. Only the delegates of the Serbian government, re
presentatives of the Turkish, Muslemic and Roma minorities in Kosova
and Metohija had come. The reporters were informed that the negotiator
team of the government would expect the representatives of the Kosovo
Albanians again on March 25, 11.00 am.

Roma Family under the Shelter of the Church

Hamburg / GERMANY ( RNN Agency ) April the 15th 1998

Glinde: The Church in Glinde has granted asylum to a family of six
from former Yugoslavia, in order to prevent their deportation back to
Yugoslavia. This subject makes headlines: Do some brave people stand
for human rights of persecuted refugees, as the Church says? Or try
the authorities and the Church to get over the laws, setting a bad
example by this? Mika and Dilawer Daferowski live in Germany since 10
years. Their appeals for asylum (1988 and 1991) were rejected.
Vicar Jrgen Probst, his parish council, and many citizens of Glinde
fight for the acceptance of the family as stateless persons. The
parish circle and the parish council give support to the vicar.

On the other hand the CDU-delegate Uwe Eichelberg has reported this
case to the police. This rigid action means for the Daferowski family
that they are only allowed to stay on the ground of the Church. The
Church has called in a lawyer specialist and has filed a suit before
the Administrative Court in Schleswig.

"We do not question the constitutional state, but there is also
something
like a Christian human right", says Probst.
