Job announcement: Fwd: Minority education experts for EU projects in
the Czech Republic


Experts needed: Cologne, 12.03.2002

We, the consulting firm GET GmbH ICON-INSTITUTE, are searching for
several international short- term experts in the field of education
reform for two EU projects in the Czech Republic: "Multicultural
Education Reform " and "Integration of Minorities".

The duration of the projects is in between May /June 2002 to
July/August 2003.

The task of the international short-term experts is the support of the
local experts in the following areas. At least one international
expert will be necessary for the mentioned areas of the project.
Depending on the qualification of the expert he/she could also be used
for several assignments. 

Project Integration of Roma:

International Short-term experts who support the local experts in
their task to:

1. To develop a methodology for primary school teachers to ensure that
Roma students (grades 1 to 5) and (grades 6 to 9) benefit from primary
education as children of the majority and insure its implementation
and monitoring and evaluation. 

2. To develop standard curricula for classes to prepare Roma students
to enter primary school. Support its implementation and monitoring and
evaluation. 

3. To produce a manual on implementation of the methodologies. 

4. Train teachers in the implementation of the methodologies. 

5. Train teachers and Roma pedagogic assistants in the implementation
of the standard curricula for Roma preparatory classes. 

For the other project: 

Project Multicultural Education Reform:

International Short-term experts who support the local experts in
their task to:

1) To develop a model multi-cultural education curricula for the
primary education and develop a individual multi-cultural education
curricula at specific primary schools focusing on multi-cultural
aspects.

2) To monitor and evaluate the implementation and effectiveness of
both curricula and provide recommendations for their improvement
focusing on multi-cultural aspects.

3) To produce a training manual on the implementation of the framework
education curricula and the development and implementation of
individual education curricula at the primary school level, focusing
on multi-cultural aspects.

4) To train trainers to train primary teachers in the development and
implementation of these curricula, focusing on multi-cultural aspects.
           

The short-term experts should have/be:

Their assignment will last from min. 0.5 men/months up to 1.5
men/months
- Several years of consultancy experience in at least one of the above
mentioned areas (not only scientific experience) 
- Pedagogic specialist in multicultural education / integration of
minorities (advantage professional experience with the Roma
minorities) 
- Fluent in English (advantage knowledge of the Czech language) 

Additionally we are searching for two international long-term experts
as project leaders for about a year (a part-time model for the project
leader in both projects could be possible)

The Project leader of each project should have:

- Several years experience in addressing minority issues in schools in
EU member states or candidate countries with particular experience at
pre/primary school level 
- At least two years teaching experience, with an appropriate
qualification, experience in teacher training is an advantage 
- Several years experience in project management 
- fluent in English
