Job announcement: ERRC Operations Director


The European Roma Rights Center (ERRC), an international public
interest law organisation which monitors the human rights situation of
Roma and provides legal defence in cases of human rights abuse, seeks
an Operations Director for its central office in Budapest.
 
Job description:

- To act as a member of the executive management team, help with
developing a system of long-term planning incorporating both the
programmatic aims of the ERRC and its key resources (finance, staff,
property);
- to act as the "problem-solver", when cross-departmental issues
arise;
- to prepare budgets, ensure effective system for budgetary control,
ensuring that the accounts are maintained according to Hungarian law;
- in conjunction with other senior staff, to seek to ensure ERRC's
future by identifying and securing grants and other forms of funding,
ensure that effective systems exist to ensure that funds are spent in
accordance with grant conditions and that reports are submitted
promptly;
- to manage human resource issues;
- to manage all aspects of the provision and allocation of office
space;
- to ensure that systems exist for the processing and storage of
information (printed and electronic);
- to ensure that staff is provided with the necessary IT equipment to
carry out their jobs.
 
Requirements:
- University degree, preferably in the area of economics, law, or
social science;
- at least 3 years experience working with an NGO, preferably an
international human rights NGO;
- attention to detail, ability to handle multiply tasks;
- ability to analyse difficult situations, make quick decisions;
- fluent ability in English and Hungarian knowledge;
- ability to work under stress.
