E-NEWS from UNITED

E-NEWS 02/02/00

Start your day on http://www.icare.to !

The Internet Centre Anti-Racism Europe (I CARE) has started up the
discussion lists, related to the four working groups at the
governmental conference "All Different, All Equal: From Principles to
Practice. Contribution to the UN World Conference Against Racism and
Xenophobia" in October 2000.

I CARE will collect and summarise the discussions.

If you want to discuss other topics related to the struggle against
racism, you are welcome too.

Questions being discussed at the moment:
- Does the anti-racism movement need to be lead by black and ethnic
minorities?
- What does black mean?
- Should we influence mainstream media or create alternative news
sources?

Be heard, take a look on http://www.icare.to and subscribe to the
lists.
Or send directly a message with 'subscribe un-discussion' in the
subject header to [email protected]

E-NEWS: SOLIDARITY WITH AUSTRIAN ANTI-RACISTS
EUROPEAN DEMONSTRATIONS ON 23 FEBRUARY

If you want to help the anti-racist NGOs in Austria, please send your
e-mails to the organisations/addresses on the Internet Centre
Anti-Racism Europe (I CARE)
http://www.icare.to/audiorep2.html

News on actions all over Europe against Haider in government are
updated constantly on I CARE too.

And we received the following proposal from our Belgian colleagues:

Hi everybody! As many others, we are very concerned about the
political situation in Austria, and the risk that we might see the
neonazis of the FPO get into the government. We held in Brussels,
last monday (31.01), a demonstration at the austrian embassy, to
protest against the possibility of such a foolish adventure. Together
with other associations, the Brussels Antifascist Front
(Inter-Regionale Front Antifasciste) plans to go on for another
demonstration on the 23rd of february. We would hope this
demonstration to take place in all the european capitals, and we
write you to discuss the possibility that you might pass the word, or
work on an international action plan.
