Please post to the attention of organizations and institutes working
in the countries of the CIS and Central and Eastern Europe on NGO
capacity-building, particularly in the field of refugees and
involuntary displacement.
Dear Colleagues,
As many of you are aware, NGOs in the countries of the CIS are
beginning to take advantage of the wealth of exchange programmes,
internships, on-line training and published materials that exist for
the purposes of strengthening the capacity of their organizations.
In order to make this information more accessible to NGOs, the United
Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) is currently
undertaking a project to develop a directory of available NGO
capacity-building resources and publications for the Central and
Eastern Europe and the countries of the CIS.
Full participation of relevant organizations who are working in this
field is essential for the sucessful completion of this project. We
therefore kindly request your assistance by completing the following
questionnaire in full on capacity-building resources so that the
relevant activities of your organization may be included in the
directory. Additionally, if you are able to forward any copies of your
resources, publication catalogues, or descriptions of any training
and/or funding programmes to me in Geneva, it would be greatly
appreciated.
As the directory will be published this spring, the completed
questionnaire should be returned by 31 JANUARY 1999. If you would
like a hard copy of the questionnaire, or alternatively, a translation
of the questionnaire into Russian, please do not hesitate to contact
me. We will of course be happy to share the completed directory with
those organizations who show an interest.
