EUROPEAN-WIDE ACTION WEEK AGAINST RACISM
13-21 MARCH 1999
RAISE YOUR VOICE AGAINST RACISM

UNITED has started again to collect and distribute information around
the hundreds of activities that take place every year around 21 March,
the UN International Day for the Elimination of Racism Discrimination.
The participants at the UNITED conference in Ireland in October
proposed several actions to be done by organisations all over Europe:
- Minute of Noise Against Racism: Many migrants and refugees do not
have a political voice, but we can let them be heard in the streets
- Publish your annual report during the Action Week: If your report is
sent to UNITED well before the Action Week, it will be taken up in our
overview of racism and anti-racism in Europe.


NEW: EUROPEAN ADDRESS BOOK AGAINST RACISM 1999

The new Address Book includes 1500 addresses of organisations, 120
funds and 280 magazines. The Address Book has been sent to, amongst
others, all listed organisations. If you wish to receive more copies,
please send a cash donation in bank notes of 10NLG / 10DM / 50FFR /
5GBP / 10USD (or the equivalent in another convertible currency) for
each copy. Postal expenses are included in the price. When you order 5
or more copies - reduction of 10%; 10 or more copies - reduction of
20%.


NEW: CALENDAR OF INTERNATIONALISM 12/98 Meetings,  conferences, 
demonstrations and festivals around Europe in the fields of
anti-nationalism, anti-racism, anti-fascism support of migrants and
refugees, intercultural action, etc. We have chosen not to send the

The Never Again Association (Stowarzyszenie 'Nigdy Wiecej') from
Poland asks your help to put pressure on the Polish government to take
action against the following nazi parties/organisations in Poland, as
they operate in breach of both Polish and international law.

ANNUAL OVERVIEW OF DEATHS CAUSED BY RACISM
CAMPAIGN AGAINST RACISM AND FASCISM

Since 1992 the Great-Britain based Campaign Against Racism and Fascism
has published an overview of deaths caused by racism in Europe. They
are now preparing  the next version. 
If you have any cases that you want mentioned in their overview, you

LIST OF DEATHS CAUSED BY FORTRESS EUROPE

Since 1993 UNITED publishes a similar list as CARF's, listing the
deaths of refugees, asylum-seekers and 'illegals' that can be
attributed to the policies summarised as 'Fortress Europe'. 
If you know of death cases that should be included, please send
them to UNITED.
