1. INTERNAL TROOPS WITHDREW FROM KHURCHA

Yesterday, Interior Minister Kakha Targamadze refuted the press
reports about the withdrawal of internal troops from the village of
Khurcha, Zugdidi district. He says that to avoid new conflicts,
Tbilisi and Sukhumi agreed that the Georgian internal troops deployed
in the village would retreat 250 metres, while the Abkhaz forces 600
metres. The neighbouring territory is currently patrolled by Georgian,
Abkhaz and Russian forces.

3. TO WHAT EXTENT DOES YEREVAN KEEP OUT OF DJAVAKHETI AFFAIRS?

The Russian "Nezavisimaya Gazeta" and Armenian "Hayk" newspapers have
recently published articles which suggest that if the Georgian
government demands to withdraw Russian troops from Meskhet-Djavakheti
(the region in southern Georgian with a large Armenian enclave), the
local Armenian population will raise against the withdrawal. It may
arguably lead to a new ethnic conflict with involvement of Armenia.
Although Armenia must not be interested in a conflict with Georgia, it
seems that Russia tries to use Yerevan in its political games against
Georgia, the newspaper claims.

4. TAMAZ NADAREISHVILI FOUNDED A NEW PARTY

Members of the Tbilisi-based Supreme Council and Council of Ministers
of Abkhazia announced the creation of a new party yesterday - The
Party for Liberation of Abkhazia. Tamaz Nadareishvili, the chairman of
the Supreme Council, was elected party leader. The first congress of
the party will be held in the near future.
